I captured this moment just seconds after the sun dipped beneath the horizon, casting the Melbourne skyline in a very warm afterglow. The city’s silhouette stood in contrast against the fading light. What truly caught me by surprise though, was the dramatic rise of the land to the west. I had never realised how significantly the terrain climbed in that direction. Seeing it from this vantage point revealed a topography I’d overlooked for years.
As a stroke of luck, a plane climbing into the dusk sky, having just taken off from Tullamarine. Suspended mid-flight above the skyline. I feel like this gives the photo a bit of a cinematic mood.
